Yesterday my daughter was making a necklace with rubber bands and asked I showed her how to do it, while showing her, she just said “‘mummy just do it for me and was about to waltz right out of the room. I insisted she stayed through the process so she can learn to do it herself to which she answered, now giving me a puppy door look “just do it puleaseee!!! I am tired”. Immediately it hit me; Most of us don’t stay through our process, we find a helping hand and then we hand it over to them and get lazy… as the saying goes, “no one can do your stuff like you”. You cannot make progress if you just hand over your power, your business, your emotions or anything to someone to help you, without investing time, supervising, learning to handle things yourself.
I remember when I just started blogging, MR.P(my hubby) would help me edit every post and it seemed as if he went into my mindand expressed exactly what I wanted to say but better. Instead of learning from him, I just left it for him to handle and then he got so busy with his work and could not help any longer, I was a complete mess. Not only have I totally handed him my power and stepped back but I also felt without his input, my work would not be good enough. That was the first closing down of my blog…
Seek help, employ people but participate in that process, own the process, don’t just hand it over, and have no idea what is going on. You cannot be competent if you hand over your work or anything to someone to perfect it without your constant impact or input.
This is so true. People frown at me for not accepting complete take over of the process. I believe strony in teaching people how to fish and not just handing them then fish. I can relate with this post becuase I am a strong advocate.
