It was our wedding anniversary recently and while normally I would have lofty plans and ideas, this time, I did not…I had planned to go to the mall to get MrPossible something nice on the saturday before the anniversary but as a mum, sometimes you cannot follow through with your plans…The day was finally here and I had nothing in mind to do, MrPossible came to say happy anniversary and kissed me goodbye as he had to go to work, when he left I quickly thought, what would make MrPossible very happy and I remembered he has been craving moi-moi so I soaked the beans and since he was going to come home for lunch, I had to make an alternative which was jollof rice and nicely spiced meat.
Anniversary Lunch
When MrPossible got home for lunch he was so happy with the dish, who wouldn’t though? After eating he told me to get ready for a massage at 6pm and because in Muscat, there is nothing like couple’s massage, the ladies would massage the ladies and men massage men in different locations…Inshort men are not allowed to even get as close as the reception of a female spa(cultural things)…I was so excited! So I was gonna have a ‘me’ time, no baby J? He went on to say that we would go for dinner, say what?! Dinner ke, I was on my natural hair and all I could think of was how will I pull off a dinner because everything in my head was telling me, it would be a formal event, if you know me very well , I am very imaginative and dramatic and in my minds eye I had already seen him in a suit and I in a gown especially because I had a new red gown that I have been looking for an opportunity to rock, then I came back to reality and asked MrPossible if it was going to be a black tie event, he quickly said no and told me to just look nice, no need for anything too much that it was just going to be a fine dinning experience, the ‘no’ resounded in my ear as I watched all my dreams of wearing that red gown come crashing down so with deflated shoulders, I asked if I could at least wear a gown and he said yes but was specific , that it shouldn’t be the red dress…
You see I have come to know that we both have different temperament and some thing’s might make one person shy and the other joyful but a compromise is necessary.
After he left, I sat thinking about what I would wear then I had a light bulb moment, Mrpossible was going to drop me at the spa, then go to a friends house with babyJ and later come to pick me up, so I decided to pack up that long red dress, make up and everything that would make me look all nice and give him the lady in red effect but before I did it, I asked some few close friends what they thought and they all said great and one said “you are dramatic sha….”
As soon as he dropped me for the massage, I could not contain my excitement, I knew when he got back to pick me, he would see a new lady and through out the massage, I thought about that…. The one hour was too long and once the lady was done, I got dressed , made up and told him, he could come pick me up… Did I remember to tell you that I held a blazers for him as he wore a corporate shirt and jean trouser…(my ‘black tie’ event must happen mehn…)
As I approached the car, I can only imagine what he thought because the place was dark, he had this quizzical look maybe he felt, “who is the lady in red trying to open my door?” Then his face changed in a split second, his facial expression went from shocked to a smile and as soon as I opened the door, I asked how do I look? He said “amazing!” and other compliments followed… I handed him the blazers…zoom we were off.
