Danny Bowman, 19, posed for 200 selfies in just one day and nearly overdosed on pills because none of them was perfect.
The teen, from Newcastle, is now warning others about the dangers of mobiles.
‘I was constantly in search of taking the perfect selfie and when I realised I couldn’t I wanted to die,’ he told the Daily Mirror.
‘I lost my friends, my education, my health and almost my life.’
Addiction to taking selfies is apparently increasingly recognised as a ‘serious problem’ by psychiatrists.
‘It’s not a vanity issue,’ said Dr David Veal, whose clinic helped coax Danny away from his iPhone.
‘It’s a mental health one which has an extremely high suicide rate.’
