The fight of yesterday was the most talked about fight I have heard in my life and even though I am not a big fan of people dishing out blows for the entertainment of others, I really would have loved to see it but I chose sleep…Some people woke up, some made bets and some made ‘mad’ money yesterday, Kudos to everyone.

Who did I support? Mehn!! nobody, I knew Floyd Mayweather a long time ago because of his arrogance and totally detested him for that, I am one to quickly support the underdog which in this case was Manny but I got tired with the campaign I was seeing online…

I do not know when he did those videos and what the plan was  but in my opinion it was to whip up the christian sentiments, all of a sudden, he was on TBN, next thing he was taken a picture reading the bible, he made religious comments that have very well become people’s display pictures and I just saw a picture of his mum praying for him before the fight…

All this are good in itself, it came across to me the wrong way though, but I can only hope it wasn’t a ploy by his PR team to get the christian folks to support him…In my mind I was like “please  go practice and  fight already!!!” I would have been happier or more excited if after the fight he made a Godly statement and the pictures came out…do you get what I mean? I am proud of him, happier he is a child of God but just wasn’t feeling the PR, because that is all I saw. It is just like how every time President  Jonathan made it to church, it was photographed and headline of the news especially around the christian community almost meaning “This is our christian brother, let us support him no matter what”.

Someone on facebook put it in a better way and this was what he said

God is not partial. He gives success to the best person either you are arrogant or not, either you profess Jesus or not. Floyd is arrogant but he’s an excellent boxer. Pac is humble, evangelizes from the ring and professes Jesus countless times but that wasn’t enough to win. It wasn’t a fight of Jesus against the devil, its just a sport competition between two humans. Dangote is the richest man in Africa, he’s not a christian but he’s good at his business. Life’s lesson: being a christian doesn’t mean God will circumvent and disregard natural laws of success for you to be the best. Being the best is a personal effort, God’s part is to crown your efforts and make it easier for you…Davis King

To the statement above, I say a big Amen!
