It takes a conscious effort to do anything just like it takes a conscious effort to look good. There are reasons why most of us don’t look so good after pregnancy and I would share with you from my own experience.

Denial: The first thing that happens after the birth when it comes to fashion, is that we like to convince ourselves that we would go back to our former shape very soon after-all Kim Kardashian and a whole lot of our local celebrities are doing it, well you would be shocked the work they put into getting their body’s back and sincerely you may not be able to do it at the  beginning, also some people have very good body’s and would lose their baby weight in the blink of an eye. My two big sisters are like that.

Don’t want to let go of the old clothes: I remember not wanting to let go of my clothes. Most of them still had their labels on them, these are clothes I planned to use in marriage to show bobo that he married a hot wife, clothes that would make heads turn when we go out, so guess what I did with them, I would force myself into them and this made me look even bigger and shabbier. I remember there was a day, I wore one to church, I asked Mr P, how it looked, he said fine and good, just for us to get to church oga started playing a different tune, he said “wow! this is serious, this thing is soooo tight, I did not see the back well” you must take note that my body told me it was tight, I was managing it, so when he gave me go ahead, I just went with the flow, I was upset when he told me just before getting into church and I went  “oh well, we are here already, there is nothing I can do” and that is how me and my ridiculous tight gown entered the church service..lolll. That made me give the whole keeping the clothes till I slim down another thought, then some of them started getting bad  like you will just wake up and see your fine dress with a hole or a rusty stain that cannot go, thankfully my sisters were too excited to take the old good ones.YOUR OLD CLOTHES MAKE YOU LOOK BIGGER!

Overwhelmed: My friends were telling me how nice I looked to Sunday service and I told them, this is because I can handle myself better now. When a child comes the first time, you are pretty much overwhelmed or do I say you have a lot of overwhelming days? The last thing you think of is yourself, you are juggling between taking care of a new baby, work, your hubby then where is the time for you? Gosh! You probably think, well, no matter what I wear, this cute baby is like an accessory, no one will look at me once they see the baby well dressed… You lie!

Money: Money is a big deal for everybody and their transition to this new body, you may think of the money you spent earlier and since you hope to come down in weight, you don’t want to buy bigger clothes and then slim down then you have wasted money again buying new clothes. I remember telling MrPossible this when he was pushing me to shop after LadyA and he said something that stuck. “Buy clothes that fits for every size, your goal should be to look good no matter the size you are.” Some of us are afraid that when we get the clothes that fit our present weight then we are accepting the new weight, well the ball is in your court, you know what you want to look like so work hard at it, keep some old clothes that would help check your progress but be patient with yourself and look good on your way to the way you want to look.
